May 16, 2018

Spend a day on the courts in Loveladies. On May 26, the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences is hosting its annual Tennis Open House, a free event designed for the public to get acquainted with the tennis facility and learn more about tennis summer programs.

The rain date is May 27.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees are invited to play tennis with members and staff on the Foundation’s nine Har-Tru courts. “Learn more about our tennis program and membership, and mingle with the community over refreshments,” encouraged Jillian Schratz, LBIF membership and community coordinator. “Whether you are already a tennis player or you would like to learn, join us on the courts for this fun kickoff to the summer season!”

An RSVP is encouraged, but not required; RSVP to Jeff Shrager at Shrager, the tennis manager and LBIF Tennis’s head pro, has been coaching at the Foundation for 20 years. He played collegiate tennis at the University of Denver, achieving a number eight ranking in the Midwest Region for NCAA Division II, and is a USPTA P-1 certified professional.

“He enjoys teaching doubles strategies to all ages and levels, particularly high school, collegiate and league teams, as well as teaching private lessons to players of all ages,” said Schratz.
