The Sara Michaels Quartet Performs at LBI Foundation July 15

Jul 09, 2018

See jazz vocalist and Harvey Cedars resident Sara Michaels in performance, leading the Sara Michaels Quartet, at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences this Sunday, July 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“Sara Michaels is a storyteller with a background in spiritual music and musical theater,” said Jillian Schratz, LBIF membership and community coordinator. “With a love of history, she is fascinated with the origin of each song, the creative process of its roots, and how it connects to her own life story. Whether she is singing jazz standards from the Great America Songbook, her original tunes, or taking you back to the blues, Sara will bring you on a personal, intimate journey.”

Each summer, as part of its Summer Jazz Series, the Foundation invites national and international jazz artists to perform “in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where learning is listening,” Schratz explained.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, and include two drink tickets. (Beer or wine is one drink ticket, while signature cocktails are two drink tickets.) Student tickets are $10. Advance purchase, online at, is strongly encouraged.

Plates of “little bites” will be available for $5.

For the Summer Jazz Series finale, on Aug. 12, La Chanteuse, Miss Paula Johns and the Dave Hartl Trio will present “What’s It All About: A Tribute to Burt Bacharach & Dionne Warwick,” with songs such as “Alfie,” “What the World Needs Now,” “Valley of the Dolls,” “The Look of Love,” “I Say a Little Prayer” and many more.

LBIF is located at 120 Long Beach Blvd. in Loveladies.
