Third Annual Striped Bass Boat Tournament and Family Fish Fry

Prizes for the top three heaviest catches are $2,000, $1,000 and $500. The fish fry, which starts at 2 p.m., and awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at the Manahawkin Elks Lodge on Hilliard Boulevard will feature a cash bar, live music, special prize drawings and other fun.

Entry is limited to 25 boats. The fishing boundaries are Seaside Casino Pier to the north, Wreck Inlet to the south, and 3 nautical miles off the beach. Lines are in beginning at midnight Nov. 4 and ending that afternoon at 2. All fish must be caught with rod and reel and donated after the weigh-in to the fish fry. 

Registration forms may be dropped off at the Octopus’s Garden, 771 South Main St. (Route 9) in West Creek; Fisherman’s Headquarters, 280 West Ninth St., Ship Bottom; or Surf City Bait and Tackle, 317 Long Beach Blvd., Surf City.

A mandatory captain’s meeting will take place Friday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, following a welcome party with one-hour open bar and hors d’oeuvres starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the fish fry are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, $8 for children 12 and younger.

100% of the donations raised will benefit the Maximilian Foundation. The Maximilian Foundation supports programs that address and treat children’s issues rooted in insecurities, designed to strengthen character and self-esteem, as a preventive tool for avoiding drug abuse.
