“Whoever said nothing tastes as good as being skinny obviously never tasted bacon” is the unofficial motto for bacon enthusiasts. Join them on Saturday, July 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the ‘Truck’erton with a Side of Bacon festival at the Tuckerton Seaport.

A dozen or more food trucks will serve up bacon-laden sandwiches, barbecue and deserts. Ten kinds of craft beers will be on tap.

Music is part of all things BBQ so Gary Philips will entertain on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the second course, getting hot and sticky, the Billy Walton Band playing from 2 to 6 p.m. On Sunday, Ned Ryerson and the Groundhogs will liven up the afternoon from 1 to 5 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on in front of the outdoor stage.

But the main event is bacon. Vendors will sell such epicurean delights as bacon jam, bacon jerky and bacon-enhanced items like soap and toothpaste. Find bacon T-shirts to add to your collection.

And don’t forget the racing mini-pigs. They will be off and running throughout the day.

Admission is $10; food prices are set by individual vendors. Children younger than 5 are admitted free, as are Seaport members.

Admission also includes mini-golf, playground, historical exhibits and more.  —P.J.
