Two men have been charged with selling heroin to a 40-year-old man who overdosed in Ship Bottom last spring.

Levi Brown, 32, of Egg Harbor, and Ronald Parrish, 62, of Pleasantville, were arrested and charged with strict liability for a drug-induced death, manufacturing and distribution of heroin, and possession of heroin, according to Ship Bottom police. They were charged after a joint investigation led by borough police and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office determination that the victim’s April 15, 2018 death was directly caused by the heroin.

Both men are currently being held in the Ocean County Jail, according to law enforcement. Police also said this is the second time Brown has been charged under the strict liability statute. He was first charged in 2009 under the then-new law.

The identity of the overdose victim was not released.  G.G.S.
