Valentine’s Day Shows and More at Novins Planetarium in February

Jan 23, 2019

Fall in love with, or under, the stars at the Robert J. Novins Planetarium! The facility, located on the Ocean County College main campus in Toms River, is hosting Valentine’s Day programs for all ages in February.

A PreK PJ Party and Valentine’s sky show, for the littlest astronomers – ages 4 and younger– is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to noon. “Bring the kids to the planetarium in their pajamas to learn about the stars and planets,” OCC notes. The event features a craft followed by a 30-minute show in the theater.

Later that day, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m., Novins will host a PJ Party and Valentine’s Day show for ages 5 and older. The event includes crafts and a 45-minute presentation.

Tickets to either event are a general admission price of $10 for all patrons age 3 and older. The price includes the pre-show activities and the planetarium show. Advance purchase is recommended.

And, on Thursday, Feb. 14, enjoy a Valentine’s Evening Under The Stars from 6:15 to 8 p.m. “Spend the evening with your special someone under the stars,” the college encourages.

“Refreshments will be served from 6:15 to 7 p.m., followed by a sky show in the planetarium theater from 7 to 8 p.m., narrated by a local astronomer. Hear the stories of love and romance immortalized in the stars and delight to the sights and sounds of romantic laser songs interspersed throughout the hour-long program.”

Tickets for this special event are $20 each and include refreshments and the planetarium presentation.

Novins has a number of additional shows, for all ages, throughout the winter.
