Two ordinances totaling nearly $2 million in appropriations for various acquisitions as well as improvements to infrastructure and services were adopted by the Beach Haven Borough Council on Oct. 9. The largest expense was $500,000 for road improvements to Amber Street from Delaware Avenue to West Avenue. However, the borough is anticipating a $410,000 reimbursement from the state Department of Transportation.

The ordinance also appropriates $400,000 for its share in the volunteer fire company's purchase of  a new ladder truck.

Other items include $190,000 for acquisition of a street sweeper for public works; $150,000 for improvements to various parks; $100,000 for removing and replacing storm drains throughout the borough; $100,000 for replacing bulkheads located on Essex Avenue, Pelham Avenue and Dock Road; $60,000 for a pickup truck for the police department; and $25,000 for improvements to public restrooms on Centre Street.

The other ordinance includes $250,000 for water main replacement along Leeward Avenue and $100,000 for installation and replacement of 24 fire hydrants. E.E.
