Weapons Charges Filed Against Man Fleeing Barnegat Police

Jul 18, 2018

A Lakewood man faces numerous charges after allegedly eluding Barnegat police following a traffic stop. Police Chief Keith Germain said that on July 13 at 3:30 p.m., the department’s crime reduction unit attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Saquan Weaver, 26. Germain said that during the traffic stop, Weaver put the car in drive and fled the scene. Shortly after, officers observed the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street on Mast Drive with the driver’s door open and the seat unoccupied.

Germain said CRU officers obtained consent to search the Mast Drive residence to which they believed Weaver had fled. During their check of the residence, they located Weaver hiding in the shower and placed him under arrest.

CRU officers also recovered two loaded semi-automatic handguns and one loaded revolver.

Weaver was charged with 2nd degree eluding, three counts of 2nd degree unlawful possession of a handgun, 4th degree unlawful possession of a defaced handgun and 2nd degree certain persons not to possess a firearm.

He was subsequently lodged in the Ocean County Jail. E.E.
