All grades at the Bass River Elementary School in New Gretna participated in their own Winter Olympics last month. According to teacher Jennnifer Gouveia, students participated in various Olympic sports in the classroom, as well as art and PE class. Students did art projects, created reports and discussed the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

“Each class did their own activities, but we were all able to learn about the importance of sportsmanship, effort and teamwork,” said Gouveia.

“We held our Opening Ceremony on Feb. 9 and then had the month to do a lot of great activities. At the Opening Ceremony, the classes walked in with their class flag and we were able to have a Torch Ceremony using a balloon torch that a teacher created. Classes each made a flag to represent their grade.”  —P.J.
