Ye Old Tuckerton Christmas Moved to Dec. 16

The annual Ye Olde Tuckerton Christmas Walk has been postponed a week due to the snow on Dec. 9, so come on out on Saturday, Dec. 16, starting at 5 p.m. with a “Parade of Lights” of decorated fire trucks and community floats and marchers. No sirens or air horns to disturb the night – only Christmas carols.

The parade starts at Third Avenue and Route 539 and continues down South Green Street to Otis Avenue to end at Marine Street. Santa rides on a Tuckerton Volunteer Fire Co. truck.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. visit Santa’s Workshop in the Borough Hall at 140 East Main St. Behind the hall, a free horse and wagon ride takes revelers around the decorated Clay and Marine streets.

The First United Methodist Church, 128 North Green St., hosts a Live Nativity at 6 p.m. with the Holy Family surrounded by a camel, sheep and goats. A cookie buffet and hot chocolate are free inside the church.

Across the street, the Tuckerton Volunteer Fire Co. provides hot chocolate as well.

Six o’clock at the Little Borough Hall, the Tuckerton Historical Society holds an open house with cookies, punch and clam chowder.

Tuckerton merchants will stay open later so residents can do Christmas shopping. —P.J.
